On February 19 Mrs. Stuckemeyer and Mrs. Lawhorn's 5th graders took an exciting virtual field trip to the NASA Goddard Visitor Center!
Students explored how satellites are carefully designed, built, and tested before being launched into space. They learned how engineers at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center create technology that can survive the harsh conditions of space — from freezing cold temperatures to intense heat during launch!
We discovered that satellites help us:
Predict the weather
Monitor Earth’s climate
Support communication around the world
Explore distant planets and galaxies
Our students asked incredible questions and were inspired by the innovation happening every day at NASA. The future scientists, engineers, and astronauts in this class are truly reaching for the stars!
